Department of Computer Science and Technology

The computer science and technology specialty was awarded as provincial characteristic specialty (2011), provincial pilot specialty for “Excellent Engineers Education Training” (2011) and provincial pilot project for “Undergraduate Specialty Comprehensive Reform”（2012）.

Centering on the basic theory of computer science and the prevailing computer technology, the department mainly engages in two directions: Embedded Technology and Internet of Things Engineering. Under the school-running orientation of “develop into the first-class and pro-industry university on the west coast of Taiwan Straits”, the specialty takes advantage of its own characteristics to set up an “embedded-centric” curriculum system, which focuses on the embedded hardware and software technology and its application in the field of smart electrical appliance, Cartronics, E-entertainment, GNOCIS and Internet of Things. Oriented by the urgent demand of current market, the specialty aims at cultivating high-quality applied talents with professional skills in R&D, maintenance and management of embedded system. Currently, its core supporting institutions and disciplines are: Institute of Embedded System, Provincial Key Laboratory for IOT Applied Technology; key discipline of Computer Software and Theory, Municipal Architecture Intelligent Engineering Center.
